REJECTING THE WORDS OF CHRIST

There is a movement today that has been around for almost 2 thousand years. Its goal is to undermine Christ's authority over the Church.  This movement comes in many different styles and flavors.  it is disguised as everyday Christianity.  There are thousands if not millions of people who are deceived by the movement.  Many of these deceived people will gladly tell you that they stand on the Word of God as their foundation.  Many will even confess that Christ is the Lord of their life.  Most of them will tell you that Christ is the only way to Heaven, but, when it all gets boiled down to basics, the Words of Christ have been rejected.  What is this rejection that is ravaging the people of God today?  Rejection of the truth.  If anyone rejects the Words of Christ, they have rejected the Truth!   John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and Word was God."  Friends, the Bible is very clear, you can not reject the Words of Christ without rejecting God.

The 1st of example of many that I will be dealing with is the Sermon on the Mount, and how large numbers of Christians have have rejected the Words of Christ.  Just as Moses brought the law of God to the people of Israel, Jesus gave us the law of God and so much more in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said; "I have not come to destroy the law."  The Sermon on the Mount expanded on the law of God.  If Moses said "Thou shalt not commit adultery,"  Jesus said that you are not to look upon a woman to lust after her in your heart.  If Moses said "Thou shalt not commit murder," Jesus said you are not to hate anyone in your heart. Mose said that the people had to have a writing of divorcement to get a marriage annulled, Jesus said, If you get a divorce (except in the case of fornication) " and shall marry another," you are guilty of adultery. Over and over again, Christ expounded on the law of God, and today, many reject it.

The most popular way of rejecting the Words of Christ is through a wicked teaching known as dispensationalism.  This teaching basically says that the Words of Christ are not for us.  It says that we can have life through Christ, but not through his teachings.  It says that the Sermon on the Mount is for a future kingdom whose citizens are only Jews.  It says that no one can live by the harsh standards that have been set in the teaching of Christ. It says we do not have to build our lives upon Christ's teachings as our foundation, and on and on and on.  Basically dispenstionaism rejects God. (See John 1:1 above)

I will show 2 easily understood ways to refute dispensationalism, especially as it refers to the Sermon on the Mount!  Nowhere in the Sermon on the Mount does Jesus say that his words are only for a future kingdom of Jews only.  That is a blatant lie and I will tell anyone that to their face (Just as Paul withstood Peter to his face)  No one can find one little tiny bit of information to back up this absurd statement.  As a matter of fact, Jesus said in Matthew 7:24; "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him to a wise man, which built his house upon a rock."  Notice Christ said "whosoever." Not in some distant future, and only for the Jews, but whosoever.
(#2) Jesus said in Matthew 7:21; "Not every one that saith unto me , Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."                       Do dispensational teachers actually believe and teach that by denying the Sermon on the Mount is for us today, that they are in fact doing the will of the Father? There are many who will not enter into the kingdom because of their denial of Christ.  When you deny Christ's teaching, you deny God.  (See John 1:1)

God bless those who trust in the Words of Christ and do not reject God.

  1. That was well said! The modernist even rejects the verses in 1 Cor.6:1-8 where the Brethren are being rebuked for going to the law with another Brother, rather than dealing with it in the church. It is clearly a reference to the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:39,40) and deals with going the extra mile and suffering loss. But that is not being done in this "me first" generation! Your article was definitely the truth of God, "Sanctify them through thy word, thy word is truth." (John 17:17)

  2. It's foolish to believe that the four Gospels of Christ that were sent to the Churches after Christ's death were not written to the Church to apply to them. The Church is the body of Christ and established on that foundation. Christ spoke in terms that the man who's heart was not right would not understand his message.

  3. That's right, Don, those whose hearts were not prepared to receive God's message by both the forerunner (John the Baptist/
Malachi 4:5)) and the messenger of the Covenant, Jesus Christ, (Malachi 3:1) were left out of the covenant of "Promises" that went to the true Israel. (Galatians 6:16/Romans 9:4/Ephesians 2:12) Those whose heart's were prepared "received" the promise and the rest were cutoff...those that heard were the "remnant" and the rest were cursed.
